A resolution ‘fixes ’something in ourselves or in our lifestyles while an intention allows us to ‘create’ something in our life. The intention, unlike the resolution, does not imply that something is wrong with the way we currently live, and instead it motivates us to live even better.
Research shows that only 10% of people successfully stick to their New Year’s resolutions. One of the reasons for this is that resolutions can start to feel like an impossible burden since they offer little flexibility.
On the other hand, when we set an intention, we approach our goals with more compassion for ourselves. We feel less pressured to create change and more inspired to take action.
