View discussion< Other PostsThe summer sun can burn our skin. Humidity can cause us to sweat, and our skin may accumulate grime and dirt. Some of the common skin problems in the summer include redness, irritation, rashes, and acne outbreaks. Here are some Ayurvedic skincare tips and remedies to support you through the summer season-
Protect and prevent: If you can't avoid the sun then try natural oils, especially for everyday sun exposure like driving in the car or going for a walk. If you are spending extended time in direct sunlight, such as on the beach or on a boat, consider alternate protection. Raspberry seed and wheatgerm oil have an SPF of 20+. Coconut and olive oils are easier to source and apply with an SPF range of 2-8. Spray rose water and drink water infused with cucumber or aloe vera.
Nourish and hydrate: Carrot seed oil has an SPF range of 28-40. It regenerates and detoxifies the skin, which are both excellent actions after time in the sun. Add a few drops of cooling, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial essential oils of sandalwood, geranium, frankincense, and lavender.
Rejuvenate and recover: Apply a cooling face mask of papaya and aloe vera pulp with a few drops of Neem oil and lemon juice to cleanse your skin. Mix a few tablespoons of plain yogurt to a cup of gram flour or besan with a teaspoon of powdered turmeric and honey. Apply this creamy paste all over your body and leave on until it dries (about 20 minutes) before brushing it off. Soak 2 round cotton pads with rose or cucumber water and place over your eyes while you rest in a bath fragranced with fresh petals.
