The 2023 World Digestive Health Day theme, "Your Digestive Health: A Healthy Gut From the Start," advocates the necessity of a healthy diet in the promotion of optimal gastrointestinal function and microbiome health. The goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle and improve understanding of the importance of a healthy gastrointestinal (GI) tract. For centuries, Ayurveda has recognized the GI tract as an essential organ that provides nutrients, enhances the immune response, and houses the intestinal microbiota. It recommends that we nourish our sense of taste with a variety of local, fresh, seasonal and compatible whole foods.
